Stress in Thin, Parallel-Sided Rotating Discs
This benchmark problem offers a theoretical solution to the linear elastic stress at the centre of a thin rotating disc with parallel sides. The stress is expressed in terms of the demand/capacity non-dimensional group and is applicable for discs with small thickness/radius ratio. As this ratio increases the solution becomes less accurate but remains within 1% of the theoretical value for ratios of about 0.4.
