Convergence

Numerical methods, such as the finite element method, are convergent in the sense that as the mesh is refined, the solution should converge to the theoretical solution of the relevant mathematical model.

Introduction

The simple example given below shows convergence of the area of a circle using inscribed and circumscribed regular polygons. The example exhibits many of the characteristics seen in convergence of a finite element model.
