The Robinson FEM Institute
The Robinson Finite Element Method (FEM) Institute was founded in the late 1980s by John Robinson as an establishment for the research and development of finite element methods and their application in industry. It was recognised by the University of Exeter as a teaching establishment for post-graduate students with John Robinson becoming the University’s first Industrial Research Professor. The Institute was located in Great Bidlake Manor, a Grade II listed manor house on the edge of Dartmoor.
